My Story

I’ve been counselling people since 2021, initially in placement as a student counsellor and now as a fully qualified counsellor. I work in Gloucestershire and see clients in Shurdington and Painswick. I can also see clients in Cheltenham itself. I'm also able to offer online sessions, so I am not restricted to Gloucestershire.

Session cost is £60.00. It's important you receive the support you deserve and if cost is an issue please know that concessions are available - so please ask about these.

In a busy world Chrysanthemum Counselling provides a space just for you.

Chrysanthemum Counselling offers face to face counselling sessions as well as online counselling sessions. I am an integrative counsellor, trained in the theories of person centred and psychodynamic counselling. I am primarily a person centred counsellor and the therapeutic relationship we develop will be an important part of the work we do together. Counselling sessions may reflect on past relationships and life experiences as well as what’s currently going on for you. You are the expert about you.

Chrysanthemum Counselling provides a safe and confidential space for you to bring whatever it is you wish to talk about. You can explore your thoughts and feelings in safety in order to assist with your healing, understanding and growth. My role is to help with this process, showing acceptance, compassion, understanding, empathy and non-judgement. I am not able to solve your problems or give advice but I may provide information or offer suggestions regarding further support. I cannot guarantee that therapy and provision of this service will result in an improvement in your mental health and well-being, but I am fully committed to this process and I hope you will benefit from our time together.

As a creative counsellor I may use a variety of creative mediums to help you express what you may be unable to say. I will be alongside you as together we figure things out.

On the rare occasion that you may not feel comfortable with me that will not be an issue. Finding the right counsellor for you is important and it may be that Chrysanthemum Counselling is not the right fit for you. In that situation I can still help you by referring on to other counsellors.

Why Chrysanthemum Counselling?

I'd like to tell you about why I chose Chrysanthemum Counselling as the name of my business. There is symbolism and meaning to be found with flowers and colour. Chrysanthemum flowers are a symbol of dedication, fidelity, honour, happiness, friendship and joy. They also symbolise longevity, loyalty and optimism. Their different colours also symbolise different things. Colours have meaning to people and we each may have our own interpretations of what colours mean for us.

Red chrysanthemums symbolise passion and love but the colour red may represent anger. White chrysanthemums symbolise love, loyalty and honesty, a pure colour. White chrysanthemums are also traditional flowers for mourners, representing a devoted love. Pink chrysanthemums stand for honour and love, friendship, affection and longevity. The colour pink may be used to represent joy and happiness, to show love for oneself. Green may stand for good fortune and the renewal of life but may also be used to show jealousy. Green is the colour of nature, safety and good health. Orange colours are used for abundance, warmth, determination, success, excitement and happiness.

I believe that having the chrysanthemum flowers and colours I have chosen in my logo represent all that counselling is about for me. I show warmth to clients, offering loyalty and honesty in our sessions together. Sessions will cover many topics relevant to each client - moments of happiness, sadness, jealousy towards others, a desire to grow and feel renewed. Determination may be needed to support clients through tough sessions. We will share in successes and reflect on failures, learning from both.
